Since the earth last drank
Every reservoir drained
to an empty tank
To build factories
They paved the wetlands
And the feed the machines
The rivers were dammed
With increasing demand
Plunges a deeper well
To suck the earth dry
And leave a lifeless shell
A scorched city
A tap that ran dry
Life has now stopped
A baby cries

Every year
The rain comes less
But our thirst grows
And cannot be quenched
The wrath of the boy
Has brought a flood to the east
and a drought for the forest
many still cant believe
the climate has changed
this is the new norm
3 weeks of rain
Delivered in 1 storm
But the earth won’t drink
From the rushing deluge
Cities buried in sand
Our final refuge

Desertification
The unbalanced equation
Warming of the planet
and decreased precipitation
Forest desiccation
Increased evaporation
On a downward spiral into our damnation
In the fertile lands
Where now nothing grows
Soils turned to sand
A desert wind blows
Balance shift
Beyond the precipice
We cannot go back,
the desert does not forgive

The desert now rises
To swallow us all
Taking water for granted
Will be our downfall
Nothing to drink
And nothing will grow
A dearth in the lands
Our death will be slow
They can go
To fight the fires
And build a higher wall
To stop the floods
But when the rains stop
And the forest dies
And the earth cracks
